Asp's post about his loader program!
Check out our new sweet website complete with it's own forums designed by CRONiC
The latest download links:
Atomizer's latest Shader package that includes Excors latest updates
Excors fancy water shader package to get rid of that purple water!**
Link to download Atomizers shaders for use with Asp's Oldblivion loader
Asp's loader program fixes some problems and crashes (particularily the crash when exiting video option) and used in conjunction with the shader packages supposedly produces some nice results! (Current version 0.1c) Link Here
Also if you want it, you can grab the INI which is provided by Atomizer to provide optimal image quality and effectively get rid of crashes HERE
The shader files go into \Oblivion\Data\Shaders. The fixed exe goes into your Oblivion directory. Its a good idea to backup the original to avoid having to reinstall if you want to revert to the original. Just rename the current Oblivion.exe to oblivion.bak or something of that nature.
**
The water package must be extracted into your Oblivion\Data directory. This will create the proper folder path which is Data\Textures\water\water00.dds.
Random tidbits:
1. Ensure you are editing the proper INI file when making changes to your INI.
The ini located in My Documents\My Games\Oblivion is what you are looking for. The file located in your Oblivion game directory which is called Oblivion_defaults.ini is NOT what you want to edit.
2. To display the framerate in game (to test different INI tweaks) you can go to the console (~) and then type TDT.
Here is Atomizer's FAQ he created. Thanks! (PS I am adding things to it as I am able to)
Q. What cards are supported by this ShaderMod?
A. The ShaderMod should work for any video card that supports shaders, but here is a short list:
GeForce 3 Ti Series
GeForce 4 Ti Series
GeForce FX Series
Radeon 8500
Radeon 9000 and above
Q. Im using Tatnium
A. The Tatnium injector is no longer required, all you need is this shader package, which you replace the one in your OBlivion/Data/Shaders directory, please make sure to back up your original file.
Q. Will my GeForce 4 MX run Oblivion with this?
A. Unfortunatly not, the MX cards do not have any shader support at all, all this mod does is replace the 2.0 shaders with 1.1 versions.
Q. I get purple water when outside
A. Just download Excors latest water shader fix above.
Q. I get no lighting
A. You need to turn bDoAmbientPass=0 back to bDoAmbientPass=1, for best effect, also make sure bDoDiffusePass is set to 1.
Q. I crash when entering Weynon Priory
A. This seems to be related to bDoSpecularPass being set to 0 in the Oblivion.ini*, try setting it to 1.
Q. I get a rainbow overlay on top of everything
A. Turn off Bloom in the options. *UPDATE*: This rainbow effect has been fixed in Atomizers latest shader pack. So if you are getting the rainbow problem, just redownload the shader file above.
Q. The game appears too dark/bright, how do I change the gama without using the video menu?
A. Using the console^, type in sg , higher numbers make it darker.
You can also change fGamma=0.8900 in the Oblivion.ini*.
Q. I get weird shaded trees
A. You can try turning the sky off in the console^, if youd prefer, until we get the shaders fully working, the command is "ts".
Q. Trying to change video settings in the game crashes.
A. This crash among others are fixed by using Asp's loader program.
Q. The eyes look weird
A. In the latest updated shaders the eyes should be fine. If you have the latest shaders, you can try these settings: try changing bUseEyeEnvMapping=0 to bUseEyeEnvMapping=1 in your Oblivion.ini*.
Q. Im getting strange green/gray blobs on the terrain
A. This is to do with the LOD terrain, you can fix this by changing fLODLandVerticalBias=0.0000 to fLODLandVerticalBias=-1000.0000 (Thanks Crazydog)
Q. I crash when trying to enter the sewers
A. Open your Oblivion.ini* and change bUseWaterShader=1 to bUseWaterShader=0.
Q. Help all my trees are appearing blueish in the game!
A. Bring up your console, (press ~) and then type 'setfog 15000 20000' seems to do the trick.
Q. When entering the Benirus Manor Basement it crashes while using Asp's modded EXE!
A. Download the file again, as it has been updated to fix this. (Link above)
Q. My trees in the distance look like huge green blocks!
A. This is due to the fact the distant trees are not working correctly yet. Please turn them off via your video options menu (or from the launcher).
* - You find your Oblivion.ini in your My Documents\My Games\Oblivion directory, do not modify the default_oblivion.ini in your installed Oblivion directory.
^ - To open up the Oblivion console, press the ~ key ingame.
